October: the month of sight
October is Sight Month and 9 October is World Sight Day, drawing attention to eye health and the prevention of silent diseases. At Centro Óptico Ibérico (COI) we believe that to see well is to live better. That's why we encourage everyone to have regular eye examinations as an essential part of their healthcare.
Why should eye health be checked every year? Just as we have routine check-ups for our heart, teeth or skin, eye health should also be monitored regularly. Many visual problems, such as glaucoma, cataracts or macular degeneration, can develop silently - without pain or visible symptoms at first.
A simple eye screening can identify changes early on, ensuring more effective treatments and preserving quality of life. Who should have their eyes checked? In fact, everyone should take care of their vision, but there are groups that deserve special attention:
Children - to ensure healthy school development;
Active adults - who spend long hours in front of screens;
Seniors - more prone to age-related eye diseases;
Diabetics and hypertensive patients - at increased risk of retinal complications.
At Centro Óptico Ibérico we stress that annual optometry examinations are essential for all ages.
Optometry exam or ophthalmology consultation?

A frequently asked question is the difference between optometry and ophthalmology:
The optometry examination assesses vision, identifies refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, presbyopia) and proposes solutions such as glasses or contact lenses;
Ophthalmology appointments are medical and focus on diagnosing and treating eye diseases. Both are complementary, but regular screening with an optometrist at Centro Óptico Ibérico is the first step towards protecting your eye health.
The IOC's commitment to the community's visual health With over 30 years' experience, the Iberian Optical Centre is now a regional benchmark in vision prevention.
Our aim is simple: to ensure that everyone preserves their most precious asset - their sight.
